ok i have a 1993 sl and when i first switched my motors a couple weeks ago i started the car and remember the fan kicking on when i was letting it idle for a while. now the other day i noticed at idle the gauge was over half way (not normal for my car) i cut the wire and put power to it the fan kicks on my question is isnt there a temp switch or something on th block where is it or what could my problem be please help

It''s normal that the cooling fan will not turn on till the gauge reaches the 3/4 mark, unless the A/C is on, then the fan should be on at all times.

unless the A/C is on, then the fan should be on at all times provided the A/C is working properly

oh well its not charged so its not working right i think it should have turned on it doesnt get to the red point on the gauge but its not normal at idle

Well, driving around town will normally keep the gage lower than the 3/4 point. Long idle times in traffic after driving for a while will make the temperature rise to 1/2 or more. Simply a normal condition (at least, it is on my 93 sw2) ...
