I had various cooling issues with the SL2... with 110 kmiles on the clock, i
had the thermostat and the cooling fluid changed at 100 k miles.
recently, during the winter, my cooling fan got stuck in the ice... the fuse
melted.

So i changed it and it was fine again... The problem is, during this
summer, the «service engine soon» light got on again. Cause by the
same fuse. i changed it for the third time, waited for a week and had the
same problem again.

Can anybody outthere give me any clue on what to check because this
whole thing sounds like i am going to drive my car at a garage and they
are going to change many things before getting any close to the problem
in question

its gonna be in the wiring. There must be a short somewhere or a bad connection that is causing too much current to flow into the fuse and melting it. I would start by tracing the wires from the fan and see if you can tell a bad wire anywhere

Engineer has the right idea in that too much current draw is causing the fuse to repeatedly fail. I suspect that your fan was damaged when it got stuck in the ice, and it is drawing too much current.


With the car cold and the key removed, reach in and try to turn the fan with your hand. It should turn freely and not feel loose or wobble around on the shaft. The fan should not touch the radiator coils or the fan shroud.


If that appears to be OK, then start the car, and turn on the A/C to high and max cooling. That should cause the radiator fan to run. Keep your hands and loose clothing clear, and visually examine the fan, looking for a possible bent shaft (wobble) in the fan, or misalignment so that it drags on either the radiator or the fan shroud.


If the fan does not appear to be running at full speed, it means that the bearing has dried out and the fan will need to be replaced. Also, replace the fan if any of the inspections/tests you did earlier show up a problem. Good luck..
