Brake Lights

Hey everyone hows it going? i just bought a 1999 SL1 and had to put a motor in it got all that done and have been driving it about a week now. I got a little problem i just noticed today. When the parking light/ headlights are off and i hit the brakesthe dash lights come on when i hit the brake pedal and when i turn the parking lights on the 3rd brake light and brake lights are on but they are not real birght and when i hit the brakes they are bright. does anyone know if this would be a brake switch problem or something else? If anyone could help me out that would be great thanks!

Ooooooooooooo -- missing ground wire somewhere. Voltage is backfeeding. Hope they hooked up all the grounds after doing the engine swap........

well i tried a brake switch that didnt work so i tried running a ground wire from the rear tail light to make a good ground and its still doing the same thing.

could it possibly have anything to do with the turn signal switch?

Unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility.
