my 94 sl1 shoulder harness seat belts do not move..have no blown fuses.. any ideas on where to look next?

Go to Passive Restraint Control Module (PRCM) and make sure all three connectors are securely plugged into the module.

Oh, when you leave the key in the ignition, and open the door, does the chime go off ??

I am having this exact same problem! except it is only on my drivers side. I have checked the fuses under the hood, but i dont know what the fuses and relays are under the A/C console. Anybody have a fuse diagram for that?

Low Saturn 01-09-2009 10:40 AM

Its either:

-Faulty Passive Restraint Module (very common)
-Blown PREST fuse in interior fuse panel, not the underhood one.
-Bad auto seatbelt assembly. (common when its not properly maintained)

my "PREST" fuse wasn''t blown, i was however missing the fuse for the "PARK". so i put another one of those in, was it needed? also, i looked at my PRCM and it was so disgusting i didn''t even want to mess with it.

OceanArcher 01-09-2009 01:46 PM

No, the PARK fuse was applicable to the 1991 coupe only ...

If the PRCM is as ''disgusting'' as you claim, it has probably failed. You might check your local wrecking yards for a used unit. The yards don not usually pull/keep these, so it is possible they will have you do the work, and charge you a small fee for the effort. Good luck, I am heading down to my yard nearby to do the same thing ...

Its just so perfect for a cup holder! I have spilled a few drinks in there so that''s probably it. but, the passenger side auto seat belt works great, Is that common?

It happens. Whenever I pick up a 91-94 with the autmoatic belts, I just do a swap over to the 1995+ fixed style.

Replacing the module or swapping in 95+ style seatbelts?

the module.

Remove the four screws holding the center console down. Lift it from the rear a few inches, unplug the three electrical connectors attached to the module then remove the module. Its snaps in place.

Do you have an armrest? Or nothing to rest your elbow on?

nothing. just the shifter, E-brake, and a tray.

Low Saturn 01-21-2009 01:09 PM

At the back of the console (behind the e-brake handle)there is a small square piece of carpeted cardboard in the recess. Maybe 3"x3" square. Remove it and there will be two phillips screws under it.

aha! your amazing, i wouldve been searching for days. so i got to the part, and i detached it, but the connecters are on there with freakin'' super glue. i pushed down on the tab and pulled but it didnt budge at all.

Ok, i finally got the connectors off and took the part out. it was so stuck on there because the connectors are HORRIBLY corroded. do you think its the corrosion that made the part not to work? the passenger side worked which leads me to believe it was all the corrosion on the "blue" connector on the module. I have a picture of the corroded connection, but its bad image quality....

the one on the right is terribly corroded-

alright, im gonna scrape these off and rub them down with alcohol. Then ill put it in the car and tell you the news. corrosion destroyed my old camera so i know it does have some bad effects....

jfm567 01-21-2009 03:27 PM

ok, i cleaned them up and plugged it back in. it makes the clicking noise like its working, but the belt still wont move. (works still on the passenger side) Im stumped. i dunno if its the motor or the module now....
