Annoying
I have a 97 SL1 5 speed manual when its in first gear stopped it starts to shake sometimes....its not affecting the rpm's at all.(thingking it a fuel injector, but idk. (I live in Tx. we use 10% ethanol in the fuel during the summer could that cause that to happen. (only does it in first gear) pull it into nuetral it stops any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like the hydraulic clutch actuator is bleeding down a bit, allowing the pressure plate to lightly touch the clutch disk .....

???
how would i check this? -Ocean Archer-

Leave tranny in neutral, and release the clutch. Let the engine idle, and see if you get the shaking. Since clutch is engaged, but tranny is not in gear, you are spinning the tranny input shaft, but not the gear sets inside the box. I suspect your idle will be smooth and no shakes.
The fix? Replace the hydraulic clutch actuator assembly -- problem solved. |
