Unhappy acceleraterion problems

i own a 2000 saturn sl2 that has 140000 miles on it. i have replaced the the plugs wires and put a new starter on it. I'm having issues when i accelerate my engine starts cutting out past 3000 rpms, i hear a clunk and the car does not have and power. This only happens when i give the car more gas. i hooked it up to a scanner and code that's keeps coming up is a misfire in cylinder number 2. i checked out my cps and seems to be fine. Any suggestions what could be going on????

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that one or more of your motor mounts are bad. I'd start with the upper mount on the passanger side of the car. As you accelerate, additional torque is added to the engine and drivetrain. When the misfire/loss of power occurs, most of the torque goes away, and the engine flops back to normal position - thus the "thud".

As for the misfire itself .... swap the coil paks around, and see if your problem moves to another cylinder ....
