Compressor just came to a squealling death. Metal shavings on the external from comp. clutch side. IS it possible that this was a clutch failure and not compressor or all for one one for all? Is it possible that debris is not internal as well? If debris is internal will a shop flush the system for me...prior to DYI used compressor install. If there is debris and system is not flushed what type of life can expect out of new compressor, certain to be variable but best guesses?< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-47";

It is most likely just the compressor clutch, however, can you try to turn the pulley at all? Is the clutch locked up? If there are metal shavings outside the compressor, they are most likely not inside as well, as it is a closed, sealed system. The best thing to do is to remove the belt, take the compressor clutch off, and try to turn the compressor shaft. If it turns freely, just get a new clutch. If not, there is something wrong internally. Check that and go from there.
