99 sl2 stuck ignition key
 

i have a key stuck in the ignition and cannot get it out. someone said that the keys are codded ect and getting a lock and key from the junkyard will not help and just go to the dealer to get a new ignition lock and key made.

is this true or what are the other options for me besides going to the dealer/

If the switch is in the acc. position, you can remove the plastic cover and then remove the whole cylinder with the key. With the cylinder out, you should be able to remove the key. Get a new one cut from the VIN and see if that fixes the problem.

well i found a lock and key in the junkyard and put it in and it works but will it keep working meaning not matched up to the vin#

i was working on the old lock on my desk at work now old assembly works...go figure.
