Default 99 sl2 intake on 00=02 motor?

Sorry guys if this has been answered before. Tried searching and didn't seem to find "this" answer. Overheated original motor (340K miles), hose broke. Found what looks like a good used motor. Less carbon build up inside valve cover than I had on my oil filler cap alone. Installed with old (99) intake. Had some concerns as gaskets were vastly different. Was sure after looking at things that the old manifold and old style gasket would work. Am now having trouble starting and wondered if that assessment was incorrect. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Maybe. But it could be the ECTS on the "new" engine. Did you replace it? If not, you need a genuine AC/Delco brass tipped on and the pigtail. Somewhere around $50 at a Saturn friendly GM dealership. I don't know this as I'm NOT a mechanic. I'm just speculating.

Default well as usual TMI from me be gets confusion....

Thanks for the reply rubehayseed....Sorry for so much information surrounding the real question some times causes confusion...The first and most important question is will the 99 DOHC intake manifold work properly on the later cylinder head? If it will not then all the other questions/issues are not resolvable until the head/intake issue is fixed. Thanks again for the reply and as always all help is appreciated.

Can you start and run it or can you absolutely not start it? Also, is the 99 intake metal and the 2000 to 2002 plastic? I don't believe you can replace a metal intake manifold with a plastic one and vice versa. I do not remember whether the plastic ones started in 99 or in 2000, hence my question. Not positive on this but somewhat sure. Check rockauto.com 4 fitment and if the part numbers they offer or identical or are listed as interchangeable for those years

Thanks derf.
Will not start. Shows good compression on #1. This is after I had to retime after initial setup. Haven't tested other cyls yet (weather delay). One source I read here (some kind of master list of interchanges) seems to say ok. Just trying to absolutely confirm whether or not the aluminum intake from the 99 will work on the later motors.
