Went out ro test the gasket for a leak. Idle was about 900rpm, spray didn't seem to make a difference. Sometimes the idle does get above 1000 when warm. I'll check it then. I've got a new TB gasket. Could that be worth a shot?

ReTB (it's spotless) and installed new TB gasket. Still the same problem. Took the car to my mechanic and he checked it out through the OBC port. He said everything looks good and thinks it is the PCM. I unplugged and reconnected the PCM (thinking maybe a corroded terminal- all terminals were OK visually)and reset the PCM. No change. I'll get a PCM from the junkyard tomorrow and give it a try.

pcm
Lets us know, also how much does one of those PCM run on price?

www.saturnparts.net www.saturnparts.com or any number of other places, such as NAPA online. |
I picked up a PCM for $35 at a salvage yard (making sure the numbers matched up). Had my mechanic put it in once I realized how hard it would be to get to the mounting nut much less get it off (they had to remove the dash top to get to it). It basically took care of the problem. I've got the famous intake manifold leak at cylinder 1 so it idles at around 1100 rpm. Other than that, as I continue to rack up ignition cycles it runs better and better.

One more thing, it seems that for 99 the SOHC and DOHC PCMs are the same unit.

Try what I did. Maybe you can get your mechanic to read the OBD codes and save you some of those steps. Let me know how it turns out. The sensors are easy to change. The PCM is a PITA.

soooo?
How did the changing pcm work out for you.

The PCM helped a lot but I still have the famous intake manifold gasket leak in cylinder 1. Working on that one now.
