97 SC leaking water
 

My daughters SC has developed a water leak (ah not really its quite a flow). I removed the starter as the water is leaking from the back side of the motor (man you cant see squat on this motor). It appears the water is coming from the intake manifold. Are there water jackets in the intake manifold on these cars?? Head gasket?? Is this a common problem with this car? I double checked all hoses and do not see any leaks from them. The stream appears to originate at the second port from the drivers side. Any help is appreciated.

How are you guys going about replacing gaskets on this motor? It appears the valve cover, timing chain cover and oil pan are leaking a bit. There is no room to work in this motor compartment, I was looking at going in and pulling the motor and trans attached to the sub frame away from the body, anyone do it this way?

Intake manifold gaskets do occasionally go bad on these models, and coolant does circulate through the manifold. Is the motor high mileage? Removing the engine and transmission with the subframe is an option, but when removing only the engine, I prefer to take it out from the top. You may want to watch some of the richpin videos on youtube to help you decide.

Thank you for the reply. I will check out the videos. I will try and get at the intake gasket this weekend. The motor has about 160K on it.
