96 saturn SL2 leaking oil
Hey my 96 sl2 was leaking oil constantly because i let one of my friends drive it and redlining 4th gear he went down to 3rd gear by accident so my rpms went really high!!. I looked underneath the car and car is leaking oil, so we drove it home everything felt the same but it was still leaking oil, i jacked it up, took the flywheel cover off, took the motormount that covers the oil pan off, and took the exhaust out because it was on the way, so it seemed like it was the oil pan gasket because it was dripping from it by the side were the flywheel is by one of those corners so i replaced the gasket and it still leaked from the same spot so i thought it might be the oil pan so i bought another oil pan and i will have to replace it i havent done it yet but anyone has an idea if it is the gasket for sure or would it be somewhere else where it is leaking from??it looks like it coming from the gasket in the corner of the oil pan right next to the flywheel what do u guys think??
The oil pan doesnt have a gasket. Just RTV. And over reving it wouldnt cause it to leak. Sounds like the pin the holds the differential together worked its way out and shot a hole in your transmission bellhousing.
BTW, your friend sounds like an idiot.
i agree he is an idiot and i screwed up by letting him drive it but yeah i meant that rtv gasket thats what i put on there twice but it still leaks from the same spot so im going to try and put that new oil pan with the new rtv if it doesnt work this time im gonna probably do an engine swap or sell it thanks for your help low saturn!
