Not knowing if my uncle ever had the transmission flushed since the car was built and the fluid completely replaced, I wanted to ask if it''''s a good idea to even touch it when there really doesn''t seem to be too much wrong with the transmission. Would that just create a problem, because the car is so used to having the current fluid?

The only struggle it seems to have is when I slow down to about 35-25mph. In that area it seems to have a decent amount of trouble making it to 2nd.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you :)

Pull the transmission dipstick, and wipe it carefully with a clean rag. Now, smell the rag, does it smell burnt ?? If yes, I would go for the clean and flush as soon as possible. Personally, I do my 92SW2 around every 45,000 miles ...

Just to add, I change the auto tranny fluid every 6000 to 8000 miles. Saturn auto transmissions hate the slightest bit of dirt and heat. Thats why I change it so often and add an external cooler.
