92' SL1 Mileage way down + gas smell

The mileage is way down and there is a strong gas smell out of the exhaust. Not sure if this matters but, the heater doesn't heat real good. Don't think it ever did. I've seen a lot of posts regarding the ECTS, any other advice would be appreciated.

Running waaay rich for some reason. With the engine cold, disconnect the connector on the ECTS, and measure the resistance of the sensor with an ohmmeter. Over 2,000 ohms, or under 300 ohms, the sensor has failed. Also look carefully at the connector contacts. If they are corroded, bent, burnt or just plain mangled, replace the connector. Both parts would run you about $45usd. GET OEM PARTS!!!

Don't just look at the contacts, but check the plastic connector to make sure it isn't cracked. That's all that was wrong with mine and I pissed away the money on the sensor. BUT, since I already had the new one installed when I discovered the cracked connector, I just left it in there.

Great, Thanks Mike and Charlie I will check on that. Weather is very cold and no place warm to do this yet. I will let you know what I find when it warms up. :)
