My girls car will honk 3 times when she unlocks the doors with the remote, then later thealarm will go off. Does anyone know what the 3 honks mean?

She washed it yesterday and the temps here are in the 20's, I'm wondering if that has something to do with it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Think it means that the alarm system has "sensed" an attempt to enter or start the car since the alarm was last armed-- it is kind of a "notification" to the owner.

Is it a 97 coupe? The door jamb switches were defective on some -- were not watertight and shorted when wet (recall). Alarm would go off seemingly randomly -- but then I realized only when it rained....

The telltale sign was the dome light staying on (or going off, then back on, off, etc) since water would bridge the gap and complete the circuit which should be "open" when the doors are closed. To the alarm system this is the same as opening the door......
