2000 SL1 Need help with headlight adjusters

2000 SL1 I need to adjust the headlights. The adjusters for vertical adjustment are the ones I need to move.

They have a vertical shaft with a male torx head on top, the bottom of the adjuster is in a plastic housing that has a threaded shaft running horizontally to the headlight housing. This horizontal shaft is somewhat rusty although I can still clearly see the threads. I'v soaked it with PB blaster and it will move back and forth some but not freely. Is the bottom of the vertical shaft a sort of worm gear that is supposed to turn the horizontal shaft? Is that a plastic worm and likely to strip? I have been trying to loosen the horizontal shaft by gripping it on the end with a vice grip. I cannot use the vertical shaft to move the adjuster.

I either need to get this loosened up or get new parts. Any ideas?
Any aftermarket parts for the adjuster?

Thanks, Al.

A quick stop at AutoZone (or some such), and purchase a Chilton Saturn Manual 62300. Cost about $25usd. Section 12 (chassis electrical system), page 12-9 addresses the procedure for vertical headlight adjustment, along with the care and treatment of the torx-head screws ........

or you could just take the headlights out and see what you need to fix.

I'm with sw2cam on this one. I'd remove the whole thing in order to figure out how it works.
