</>Noob question.... What year engines are compatable with a 1999 SC2 automatic? I was given an SC2 with a blown engine and need to find a replacement engine for it. TIA!Edited by: kloppk |
1999 is a direct drop in. But 1993-2002 will work with swapping of parts and minor modification.
You can use an engine from a SL2, SC2 or SW2. |
I've located a 2002 from a SC2 to swap in.
The blown engine is the late 1999 type with the 9 bolt exhaust manifold. Shouldn't the 2002 swap in without modifications? |
Depends when your car was built. 1999 was a transition year. Does your 1999 have an aluminum intake manifold or black plastic one?
|
The 1999 intake manifold is aluminum.
The 2002 engine should be complete with intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, exhaust mainifold, ... Edited by: kloppk |
You should be good. Just be aware that some sensors might of changed and will not directly plug into your wiring harness. So you'll need to swap the sensors over from your old engine.

Mike,
Thanks for the confirmation Swapping sensors isn't a problem since I'll have both engines side by side to transfer any sensors etc that I may need from the old engine. Kurt |
Throttle cable may be different as well. I forgot to mention that.
I'd check the 2002 engine I have in my garage, but its all packaged up and put away. http://www.differentracing.com/jeff/.../engine_02.jpg http://www.differentracing.com/jeff/.../engine_05.jpg |
I picked up a low mileage 2002 DOHC engine this morning.
It has the plastic intake and 9 bolt exhaust. Can I swap on the aluminum intake and throttle body from my blown 1999 DOHC engine onto the 2002 engine? I assume it should bolt up OK... |
The engine swap went without a hitch and the new engine fired right up.
I'm a happy camper!! Thanks for your help! |
