i have been looking fora car for my sister recently and ran across a 1998 SL2 sedan with 150k on it. it is cheap, that is why i am looking at it. how reliable are these cars? i understand with that many miles, there will be probs. but how many miles can be expected of a saturn with a 1.9 in it? thanks for anyone that can shed some light on this vehicle!!

I own a 1997 SL with 150,000miles, bought it new. My car has been very reliable for me and I am getting 37-40mpg. These cars do tend to use oil in their later years and you have to keep up the oil level or they will fail due to low oil levels. I'm hoping to get 200,000 miles out of my car without any major problems. There are people who have gotten many more miles out of their Saturn than me and also those who have not. Different year Saturn's have different problems. The cars VIN number can be taken to any Saturn dealer to get what ever repair reports they can generate. Also check the internet for technical service bulletins TSB that Saturn placed to address any problems with that year and model Saturn.
