1998 sl2 auto tranny problems.

i think my car is in the mid stages of tranny problems, hard shifts and what not. just wondering if it would be worth changing and/or rebuilding the tranny all ready in there.

the car has 178+ on it. the engine is still running strong. if anyone has any ideas on it if would be worth to fix let me know.

hard shifting automatic

This may fix your problem. I have read on the internet that hard shifting most of the time comes from a part on top of the transmission I believe it may be called a controll valve. I went to the junk yard and bought one and it fixed all the very hard shifting that I was haveing. $20.00 This part is under the battery box on top of the trans, There are wires that go to it which I believe control shifting. Unplug wires and unbolt the sheet metal cover then you will see the controll valve. Unbolt control valve. It is kind of a large chunk of metal. Remove the hole chunk at the junck yard. [ you can remove a little less but you will not be happy you will see what I am talking about when you remove your fist one]. It is a easy job so have fun sure is nice not having to pull the trans. :)

If you are a saturn pro on this subject then I am sure that you would know what I am talkining about. And yes that very well may be the correct wording that I should have used. If you have any more saturn info on this subject please share it with the world so we can all learn. Thank you your friend Robin :)
