1997 Saturn SL1 Transmission Problems

So this thing seems like its about ready to kick the bucket, hopefully with a little help we can give it a couple more years. Anyhow, the problem recently has been some weird transmission issues. Basically what happens is that the rpms are stuck around 4000 and the car wont go faster than 35mph. If we stop and turn the car off then turn it back on it will drive fine for a bit, but inevitably happens again. This has triggered the check engine light so we had the codes pulled, which are P0733 and P0734.

Some searching turns up the following information about these codes:
P0733 - A/T 3rd Signal
P0734 - A/T 4th Or TCC Signal

A couple forum posts mentioned that this could be a overheating issue. The car as also had a minor coolant leak so that might be contributing to this issue. We keep the coolant level at a reasonable level typically so Im not sure if that is the problem, but its worth noting.

Anybody have any idea

I'm assuming it's an auto trans. Anyway, on the front side of the trans. by the spin on filter are a pair of sensors the small one is for temp and the bigger one is a speed sensor, sometimes if the speed sensor goes bad it can effect the way your trans shifts.

Im not sure actually its my girlfriends car, I think well over 100,000 at this point I cant look right now. We ended up just dropping it off at a shop to get it diagnosed rather than trying to figure it out on our own. I feel comfortable doing most of the fixing, but Ive never had a knack for diagnosis. ill post back when I know more.
