can anyone tell me what part of the trans is leaking? I am not familiar with these types of cars. My son has a 94 SL with a manual trans and the fluid is gushing out from the bell housing when he fills it. I jacked it up from the drivers side yesterday to take a look and it started pouring out from the inside, behind the inspection cover. I was wondering if the seal was completely gone or is something broken? Trans shifts fine, just won't hold its fluid. Anyone ever encounter this problem? Edited by: sw2cam

Its not a seal. You have a hole in the transmisson. Kind of a common issue. The diff pin get thrown through the transmission casing when one tire looses traction and the other suddenly gains traction.

You need a replacement transmission.

It most likely looks like this on the inside. Notice the hole and the spider gears inside>
