1994 saturn SL with 1.9l and manual trans. "Service engine soon" light comes on after engine is driven for 5-10 miles but, only after coming to a stop and the engine RPM increases for about 3 seconds from 1000RPM to about 1400RPM. Taken car to dealer, read diag codes and replaced the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) sensor.

Problem still continues and the light will go out if vehicle is turned off and restarted.

201K miles still getting 35mpg nothing else out of the ordinary. Love the car.

Sorry, but I do not understand your answer.

After the ECT sensor was replaced the connector was replaced, but I was told that was due to the fact that the old one was damaged when the tech. tried to remove it to replace the sensor.Edited by: bobz5

It was change becaused it fell apart when the TECH changed the sensor. The plug fails and goes bad. Most believe that have worked on SATURNS the only way to do the job right it to change both together. It seems from what you said thats been done.
