Yesterday I sold my 92 Geo Prizm and bought an 02 Saturn
SL1. Obviously, I'm having to learn all about driving cars made in this century. My car is an automatic, with D, 3, and 2. I've driven it today in D, which I figured was okay. But then I got to thinking maybe the 3 is for street/town driving. Yes? No? There's a tachometer (I guess that's what it is; it measures RPM) and I'm totally ignorant of what I should be paying attention to on it. Anybody got any patience for an 02 newbie? As a general rule, just put it in drive (D) and go! The only time you
would use 3 is for extreme hills or towing a trailer (not recommended). The tachometer is basically for show with an automatic transmission. It probably means that Saturn built one style of gauges for both manual and automatic cars since it's cheaper to make than two different sets of tooling etc. |
keep it in d
