Default Gas mileage

I have a 2007 Saturn outlook Xr and I am getting about 12 mpg combined. The SUV has only 32,000 miles on it. Anyone have anything they know could help to get better mileage. Thank you Jrmongo

How much of your driving is stop and go and for the stop and go, what percentage of it is truly stopped and what percentage movinfg and avg speed?

I'm not playing 20 questions. Just trying to understand your driving and traffic situation.

Also, how long have you owned the vehicle and did it used to get better mileage? If so what was it?

Quick bing search says original spec was:
City: 17 MPG · Highway: 24 MPG

(for a baseline reference)

You didn't answer my questions.

When I said I wasn't playing 20 questions, I meant I was not trying to be a jerk.

I now realize you may have interpreted that as me being abruptly obnoxious, stating that I will not play your game of 20 questions.

I meant the first!!

Sorry for the misunderstanding!! My bad.

Please answer the questions so I may continue to try to help you.

Well, the vehicle is rated at 17 city, and it being an 07 with 32K, it sounds like it’s not been driven too much... begin by checking the brake calipers and tire pressure, both of those can impact fuel economy.

in what manner are you driving? My ION can get 40-42mpg on the freeway at a constant 60mph, yet only manages about 19 at 100... hard acceleration and excessive speed can waste fuel (especially in something the size of an Outlook)
