2002 saturn idler pulley & serp change
I’m new to this forum. I have a 2002 SATURN L300 V6. The idler pulley fell apart while on freeway headed home and shredded part of belt. Got tow home. Although most of pulley was fallen apart, there was still tension on belt and was able to drive short distances.
(Excuse my lack of technique jargon)
Found some videos on changing pulley and serpentine belt. Proceeded to do so. First removed the air unit, then put engine on jack so I could remove the engine braces, then removed bracket engine mount, then was able to remove old serpentine belt and install the replacement belt and idler pulley. I then proceeded to put EVERYTHING back in same order. All looked well. I started car, and it was loud and squealing and engine smelt bad. I shut her down to inspect, no visible issue. I then proceeded to start car again, and she tries to turn over but won’t and thus won’t start at all now.
Any ideas or help?

Update
UPDATE on repairs.
I was able to get car started by pressing gas and turning key to start. Exhaust was heavy and white. Belt squealed for a few seconds but quieted down. The power steeling pulley squeaked a little but no longer. The I drove the car a few blocks, all seemed normal and functioning. There is no pulley wobble from any pulley. All is aligned and rotating smoothly.
HOWEVER,
Engibe does appear to almost lose power intermittently for a brief second. The idle rpms drop for a second every 2-3 seconds.
aside from that, car is running normally.

I would release the belt and spin all the pulleys, it sounds like the a/c compressor might be seizing. If the battery is charged I would run it for a minute or so without the belt to see how it runs.
