The service light comes on after driving the car on the highway for a while. After the light comes on the car does not smoothly shift gears, it bangs into gear. After parking the car overnight the light does not come on after starting up the car. This problem does not happen every time I drive the car.

Start by having the stored codes read.

 

I had the code read at Advance auto and there was no codes logged in. The service light was out at the time.

 

Had the same problem with my 2001 L300 V6 ..... Brought it to Saturn.... Electronic solenoid in the trans was causing the problem. Saturn replaced it, cost $300 total ..... A year later, stillfine .... Edited by: fmthefixer
