Wiper motor or just wipers?
 

During a snowstorm my wipers were left in the up position. When I went to turn on the car the next day, one wiper moved while the other did not. Now the wipers do not move. The wiper motor can be heard when I turned the wipers on but they don't work. The guy at the salvage yard said that I may be able to just hook up the wipers back to the motor. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I've got a new motor but, if I don't need it that would be great. Any help is appreciated.

If you hear the motor running, you don't need a new one. Check where the wiper arms are attached to the pivot studs. You may have stripped them and just need to get some new wiper arms. I'm NOT referring to the blades, I am talking about the wiper arms. I THINK they're attached with a 10 or 12mm nut. Maybe just turn the motor off, position the arms and blades where you want them and tighten the nuts first. You MIGHT get lucky.

I can post a picture if needed. Chances are the arms came loose from the stems. They are retained by nuts under the black plastic caps. Remove the small black plastic caps where the wiper arms attach to the stems.
Run the wipers and see if both stems turn.
Turn off the wipers, let them park.
Turn off the key.
If the stems turn and park, move the wiper arms to the park position.
Tighten the nuts and try the system.

Matt I see you have a SL. This may or may not apply to your car. This is how the L series car are set up. The L series cars were designed in Europe.
