Serpentine belt replacement on 2003 L200

What is the process to replace my serpentine belt on the 2.2L engine? All of the past cars that I've completed this on have had a set of flats or a square hole for a ratchet to pivot the pulley to remove the belt. I've inspected the idler pulley and haven't found either.

Following comments taken from the Chilton Manual for 2000-2004 L-series. The manual (or ones similar to it) can be obtained at nearly every automotive supply house -- I think you can even get 'em at WallyWorld.

Here's the info:
Pg. 1-21 REPLACEMENT **Refer to Illustration 18.5

"To remove the drivebelt, loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel and remove the lower splash shield from the underbody."

"Note how the drivebelt is routed, then remove the belt from the pulleys. If you're working on a four-cylinder engine, insert a 3/8-inch drive ratchet or breaker bar into the tensioner hole and pull the handle counterclockwise to release the drivebelt tension (see illustration)."

Thanks for the details to remove the serpentine belt. It was a fifteen minute job once the lower splash shield was removed. With this was removed, I was able to clearly find the square hole in the idler pulley to relieve the belt tension.

Good of you to come back and give a thumbs up to Ocean. Hope to see your post count go up as this site shuts down inactive accounts. Maybe go up to the new memeber area and introduce yourself to the gang. Add a foto of that L car in the intro thread and put your first name, location, yr/model in your signature.
