Saturn ls 100 - security light problem

Started the car the other day and SECURITY LIGHT came on, and NEEDLE ON FUEL GAUGE and TEMP CONTROL was going back and forth and would not stop, tried to remove the SECURITY LIGHT and could not, next day in the morning tried car and no SECURITY LIGHT or FUEL GAUGE AND TEMP CONTROL NEEDLES going back and forth, that same day, I went to start car in the afternoon and the same problem all over again, how do I get this to STOP. Thanks!

does the car start 100% of the time right now?
does the wacky needle behavior continue as you drive?

I'm far from an expert on things, but sounds like battery terminal crud to me.
