Default L300 ignition

My son lost the last key to his L300....right after we put a timing belt, new tires, fuel pump...and a good bit of other stuff on it. Runs great! Now I can either trash it....or find a relatively inexpensive way to change out the keys and lock barrel without any of the original keys. GM no longer cuts them. Suggestions please?
Thank you

Call a locksmith.

You should be able to get the key code at the dealer with proof of ownership. I have done this in the past. Then a locksmith can cut you new keys by code. The key does not have a chip, the lock just looks for the proper key cut.

I called a lock smith already. According to him he could not cut a key for that car. He said at some point someone might have already replaced the barrel. But whatever the issue...he punched the number in and could not get a key to cut. That's why I'm looking into other options. Sorry, I should have stayed that in the OP

See if your locksmith will set this up for the correct key code and install it in your car.
