Driver power window intermitent

I have a 2002 L200 Sedan and my drivers window has quit working (again)! The first time this happened, about 6 months ago, I read on this site to check the wires. I found a wire that was beginning to break and I fixed it and replaced the switch. It worked. Then last week, this same window began to be intermitent again. Now the only way it works is if I hold the switch and open/close the door or hit the door while holding the switch. With this method, the window only moves about an inch at a time. I plan on tearing into the door and looking over the wires again as well as all the connection points.

My question is, what else should I look for while in the door? If the motor is going out would it behave this way? Can you replace the motor without tearing the regulator apart? Going through the drive-in windows are a pain when the driver's window doesn't work!

Most of the power window and lock problems I have found are broken or breaking wires in the umbilical between the door and the A pillar. Never lost a window motor on an L series.
