I have an 02 L200 that has started shifting funny. About three months after I noticed the problem the check engine light came on. My personal scanner was throwing a p0410 code, which has to do with the air pump. The dealers scanner also showed a running rich code as well. They said it was all related to a bad o2 sensor. After I replaced the sensor the car is still shifting weird and the check engine light came back on. Seeing as the car only has 50,000 miles I believe the transmission is good and the problem is related to the PCM or wiring. If you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time, AO |
Aorzack - Is the error code for the car still showing P0410, or has the number changed since the replacement of the 02 sensor ?? |
Unfortunately I don''t have the car right now. I am picking it up today and I will research the codes. From what I am told the "service engine soon" light is intermittent now. where as before it was constant. Thanks for the response, I will post the codes as soon as I get them.

Interested to see the remaining codes......

I got the car back today. The check engine light was back on steady. Code scanner is still throwing a p0410 code. Reset the code and It came back later in the day. The first mechanic I spoke to at the dealer suggested that any plugs other then "ACDelcos" can cause the 2.2 to throw weird codes. Despite the long shot I changes the plugs back to acdelcos with no change in codes. I don''t know if they are related, but the car also accelerates very poorly. From a stop it gets stuck in gears. You have to let of the pedal for it to shift. On the highway, when it downshift, it revs to about 4500 and decelerates. I welcome any ideas.
Thanks again, AO |
AorZack - This may sound like I am grabbing at straws here, but check your underhood fuse block. Specifically, the IGN1 and IGN3 fuses (they are both 10 amp) |
Just checked all the fuses. Unfortunately they were all good. A friend of mine has a Solas scanner. I am going to try and borrow him for a few hours to see if he can help. Appreciate the thoughts. Two brains are always better. I will let you know when I get any further info.
Thanks, AO |
Well I finally got the car back from the dealer. It turns out the huge loss of acceleration and the P0410 code were caused by a bad cat. Since the car has only 50,000 miles on it the cat was replaced under warranty. The dealer said I also need a new ignition coil and module. They said the ignition parts were making the engine run rich and that is what killed the cat. Gotta love GM.

AorZack ... Thank you for the follow-up on your problem vehicle. It is comforting to know that some warranties will actually do what they claim ... |
