Switchback DRL Issue

Hello all. I have a 2006 ion 2 with the DRL amber lights that activate once the car is in drive. I do not have the daylight sensor.

i installed switchback LED running lights. Positive wire is run from an added fuse and grounded to chassis. The signal wire I tapped into the stock signal source wire. With the car on and in park the new lights turn on, and the blinkers work like they should. Also while in park I can turn my parking lights and headlights on with the new lights working and signaling as they should. But…
If the light switch is off and I put the car in drive, both new running lights and signal lights flash. The only way to stop them is to turn the lights on with the switch.
Any thoughts or ideas if this can be resolved?
Thanks, Jace

What existing fuse / circuit did you tap into?

I tapped into the ignition acc. So the new lights turn on when the car turns on.

Don't f with the critical circuits.
There are many other fuses that are on only when the key is in accessory / run, and there are fuses that are always hot regardless of key position. Many times, the slots marked not used still receive voltage. It's just a question of whether it is always on or key on as described above.

Understand your intent, but there is so much already hanging off that circuit that I really just wouldn't open Pandora's box on that one. In theory should be fine, in practice only the shadow knows
