He's asking for a proper location to put the jack stand to work safely, and he's looking for a good spot on the frame to place the jack stand to keep the car from possibly falling on his head. I don't know the ion well enough to give it answer, but the ion folks do.

@oldmarine

Thanks guys

Raising a car for repairs is only recommended on flat level hard surfaces only. Set the parking brake before raising the car. Your car is front wheel drive and raising one front wheel defeats the park position in your transmission, meaning the car can roll away and fall off the jack on the other three wheels. Be very careful when raising and working on your car.

A jack stand used as a safety device is always recommended. A jack can slip or fail and the can either come down slowly or very quickly. If you want to raise the car and set it on jack stands for repairs is different than using one for a safety device. If I am raising a car for a tire change or a quick oil service I leave the car up on the jack and place a stand under either the engine cradle or the suspension. These locations will support the car without body damage if something moves.

If you want to raise one end and set it on stands and remove the jack you need to place the stands under the pinch weld just inside the rocker panel. This is the factory lift point and where a shop would place the four arms to lift the entire car for dealer service.There will be a double panel welded together with a recessed spot ment for jacking the car for flat tire replacement. Look in the owners manual for the factory jack points for flat tire replacement. They will be near each tire location.

This assumes that your car is NOT rust compromised. If your car is rusty then you have bigger issues to deal with.
