New Member In Need! Ion 3.

Hey guys, I'm new the forum but am in need of some urgent help. I just recently bought a 05 Ion 3 I've already replaced both wheel bearings, and CV axles the issue now is that I basically have no throttle, I started the car after a weekend vacation and could floor the gas pedal with no reaction. Looked into it online and most things point to the APP sensor. I have a engine light on and a power reduction light, havent had a chance to see the codes tho.

You need to check the codes before throwing parts at it.

The story of it all basically diagnoses either throttle body or pedal, Im just not sure what other sensors are around that or involved with the throttle and pedal until i get off work to check the code, I wasnt sure how quick the replys could come in.

There is also wiring and a pcm involved. So codes are only the beginning of the diagnosis.

There is a wiring junction under the drivers side kick panel that can become corroded due to water from wet floorboards (snow from winter is a good way to soak them)... pull the panels off, pull the wiring plug apart (after disconnecting the battery) and check for corrosion... even if not corroded, spray both ends with WD-40 and after that dries, slather in some dielectric grease and reconnect... IF your problem DOESNT go away, then check the APP sensor and then the throttle body

Rather than use WD-40, why not use CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner? Then plug and unplug the harness a few times to help "sweep" the contacts clean.

You could... the only real purpose of the WD-40 is to displace any water that could remain...

Thanks guys!!

Thanks for letting me know about the other sensors, and sorry for the late reply but i fixed it a few days after the post bought contact cleaner and cleaned my sensors tore up my throttle body and cleaned it to.

Which sensors did you clean and with what? some are easily destroyed so it would be helpful to know what works. Thanks

I tore off the the kick panel on the drivers side and and used a really good fast dry eletrical contact cleaner, also did the APP Sensor, as well as the TBS Up top. Wiped the excess and continued to clean throttle body itself. All I did at first was hold it open took a allen-key and a rag soaked in throttle body cleaner and scrubbed the **** out of it. That worked but I had already bought a new gasket for the throttle body so i just tore it off and cleaned it proper. Also i put in a new battery with 50 extra cranking amp.
