Hello everyone , I'm new here and have a question .
On my 2006 ion clutch slave cylinder , right next to where the fluid line attaches , there is a hollow nipple protruding . In a normal system this would be where the bleeder valve is located . However saturn doesn't have a bleeder valve . What is the purpose of this , if anyone knows ?
I have it downloaded to my phone , but I really need a computer so it's big enough for me to read and do a search so I don't have to read every page until I get lucky enough to run across what I need . Thank you . This is my first saturn .
The manual recommends bleeding the clutch hydraulic system using a vacuum pump. See here. However, from repeated experience, this does not work very well, if at all. I was never able to get all the air out of the hydraulic line this way. That port at the connector is indeed a bleeder. To release the trapped air, you need to unlock the horseshoe clip (don't remove it, just pull it to the unlocked position) and then CAREFULLY slide the hydraulic line out slightly. If you have a clear plastic tube on the bleeder, you should be able to see the air bubbles come out as you do this. Repeat several times, cycling the clutch pedal repeatedly between each attempt. You may have to bleed at least a dozen times, in my experience.
In summary, this is the most frustrating job I have undertaken in working on my Ion..
