Engine swap and drum to disk conversion
Good morning everyone,
quick question.
Does anyone know how I can convert my drum brakes to disk on my 2005 ion Quad, and what engine swap can I do, what engines from GM can swap with my ion.
thank you

What's wrong with the engine?
the engine is just making a loud rattling noise and loses a little power when I drive it, it’s a 5 speed
im also thinking it’s the knock sensor
Rear I used a complete redline/cobalt SS rear beam, with hubs, brake components, hoses, and parking brake cables.
If engine is making rattling noise and down on power you're probably looking at a timing job. Timing tensioners are the known weak point. I'd pull the valve cover and see if the chain is stretched.
Being you're a 5 speed car front swap is plug and play.

so what engine besides a Saturn works, I keep hearing a cobalt might swap
Any 2002-2006 2.2 GM ecotec in any GM car long block will work in your Saturn. I put a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero 2.2 in my granddaughter’s 2000 LS1 Saturn. The first generation 2.2, 2000-2006 fit. You have to remove everything down to the long block and install your manifolds and accessories. It will probably be easier to repair your engine if it runs and has timing chain problems.
