Default Car needs gas pedal applied to start after pumping gas

I have to press the gas down pretty much to the floor and hold it while turning the key until it starts. Also, engine kinda stutters/putters a bit for about 30 seconds but then engine goes back to running to smooth. This is only after pumping gas. The putter and stutter, while not that bad, used to only be after pumping gas but now it's sometimes on cold starts, random but not every time. Not always cold starts tho, sometimes coming out of the grocery store. Is this the fuel pump going bad?

Thanks

I would look at the engine temp sensor and wiring connector. They fail to extremely cold and the engine floods.

It should be on the firewall side of the engine where the heater hoses connect to the engine. That is where the thermostat is on your engine.
Throttle to the floor should be “clear flood” mode on most cars.

If by pumping gas you mean fueling at the gas station then you have a bad purge valve. Clamp it off if you can and see ir it starts normal.

That's a purge valve. Yours may not be exactly the same.

Just an update: Replaced the part pictured above (also as the guy did in the vid shared above) and that solved my issue. Starts right up after refueling now.

Excellent, great that you gave an update and closed out this 'trouble ticket'

So many times, I Giggle a fault, find people having the same exact problem with their wife's 'grocery getter' on a forum similar to this one...
Members jump in with experience and some mere suggestions... then suddenly the thread goes cold. No answer, no reply, no thank you...
... and worse of all, we don't know what it was that got the minivan running again!

Chester was a hero in his wife's eyes, saved a few dollars, and moved on without a care.

People who use the volunteers information and then don't return to post an outcome, they do nothing for us or for the future folks looking for answers

THANK YOU!
