2006 Saturn ion 2 entering limp mode
So i just bought a Ion last week and the guy who sold it to me told me the check engine light was on because of an Evap sensor. So i brushed it off because he said it ran fine. But then after being able to drive it for the first time today after about 30 minutes it entered limp mode with the engine misfiring like crazy. Looking for some advice because I've seen posts where they fix the part and it immediately turns on the check engine light again. |
You will need to give us the list of codes. Buy a code reader if you can I think they are pretty inexpensive these days. |
I'm planning on going to a parts store tonight and using theirs. I'm short on funds and I'm trying to be conservative |
Please get the pxxxx codes not their opinion. We can get the real Saturn meanings and help solve your issues. |
Yes. I know. I'll keep you guys posted once i can get out to the shop |

I would start with the crankshaft position sensor. It is buried behind and just above the starter. It might be easier to access with the intake manifold removed. I can take a picture of a short block I have on a stand if that will help. |
My first post on the Saturn forum.
I have a 2006 Ion too. And have been having limp mode problems. I put a new throttle body on it and that worked for awhile then limp mode again. Then a new accelerator pedal and that worked awhile. Then limp mode again. I then I tried the clean all the 5 volt plugs and the bulk head connector at the left kick panel. That worked awhile and we are back doing the limp mode deal. I'm about lost and don't trust the car anymore |
If it is in limp mode there should be a code or two. Please list the actual codes not the parts store’s opinion of what is wrong. We can probably help. |
Did you use dielectric grease when puttinbd that stuff back together? If not moisture could get back in and you’re back to square 1 |
