2006 Ion coolant light and leak

Need some help and advice please. I keep my ion in as good condition as possible. Regular oil changes, filters, hoses checked etc.. on a regular basis. Recently I had a small leak which looked like oil. My garage told me it was possibly a rear main seal that needed to be replaced. Once that was done, it was discovered the oil pan had a small leak in the corner and had that repaired.. Now I have a larger leak which looks like antifreeze as my oil level is fine and the coolant message came on. I also noticed the temp gauge goes up to halfway after just a few miles of driving. No way this can just be the thermostat with the leak I am seeing right. I saw something mentioned in another thread about replacing the coolant tank? any help is appreciated. Thank you. BTW, 140K

Where on the floor does the leak drip? If it is behind the engine at the belt end it is the water pump. If it is under the overflow tank then look there.

Do Ecotec water pumps usually fail before 150k? Mine’s doing fine so far...

maybe a a hose leak?

It depends on maintenance, Dexcool is supposed to be a 5 year coolant. If you have changed your coolant at least one time you are probably ok. When I go into an Ecotec for any chain work I replace the pump. I had to replace the pump on my driver and my grandson’s Alero as a maintenance item. I should have replaced my pump when I installed the engine.
