2006 ion coolant

I have a ion 2006 and want to change the antifreeze. There is a debate on using Dex cool. My coolant is pink. Please let me know what to use and is there a guide on how to change it, never have done it before. Thanks

I use Dexcool in my Saturn, GM used it when my car was new and that is good enough for me. I do this for a living and I stock 6 different coolants for my fleet of trucks.

Thank you for the information on dexcool, is there different types, mine is pink and people are talking about orange

I am only familiar with orange Dexcool.

Look up the GM part number in the owners manual for the coolant and use the stock number to figure out which dexcool it is specifying. Can't see how much of an argument can develop over that. Manufacturer's recommendation is manufacturer's recommendation

I flushed out all Dex-cool coolant in my Trailblazer, ION and Equinox.

I had to do a head gasket job on the Equinox and it was horrible looking from the Dex-cool. Went with the Long-Life Universal Green/Yellowish stuff on all my GM cars and even our Suzuki.

Please disregard this post, boy do I feel dumb. Took it to shop and they checked it out. The dimmer switch was pushed all the way over, don't know why you would have one, but that was the problem. Never really noticed it before. But thanks for listening, very thankful it wasn't anything but my panic self.
