2004 Ion 1 "Maintenance" Items
 

Hello all. I am new to this forum, but that's only because I recently purchased a 2004 Ion 1 with a 5mt. I am a student mechanic, but I am unfamiliar with Saturn's (RIP) or GM's views/recommendations on maintenance items and service intervals. My Ion currently has 124k miles on it. The engine and transmission appear to be in good condition, and I haven't had a single issue over the 700 miles I have put on it, but I would like to know more about how to care for my vehicle and keep it running as long as possible. It did NOT come with its owner's manual, and I've checked on Prodemand for maintenance information, but was unsatisfied with what little it provided.

If you are still reading, here's what I'm looking for;
Information on Maintenance items, like fuel filter replacement (Mine is pretty rusty, so its overdue for a swap), Air filter, Oil change intervals, Coolant flushes, etc.
Common problems with Ions (especially 2004s)
Tell-tale signs leading to any common problems.
Timing chain replacement?
Manual Transmission maintenance?
