05 Ion3 -- P0133 keeps returning ...USE AC DELCO O2 replacement

I'm working on a co-worker's (of my wife) 05 Ion 3. Car has been sitting for a couple months because they couldn't afford to get it inspected. I have replaced front rotors, brake pads, sway bar end links, and front O2 sensor because of code P0131 low voltage bank 1 sensor 1.

P0133 (slow to respond bank 1 sensor 1) keeps coming back. I have replaced the front O2 sensor twice with a Bosh OE type from Autozone. Unfortunately car is not ready for PA emission test because of this returning code. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be great.

Check to make sure the wires for the sensor are good and not corroded. Also check your plugs.
It is basically saying it could be running rich, but the circuit is to slow to inform the PCM. That's why I say check the plugs as well.

And us an ACDelco. Bosch isn't good for much anymore.

I might have an extra one, or two. But not sure how good it would be anymore.

Returned the Bosh sensor to Autozone for a refund and ordered an AcDelco off Amazon. I'll check the plug connection for corrosion tomorrow.

Yea, check the boots and the plugs. Let me know

Boots looks great (have a little di-electric grease in them). Plugs look to be burning good but the gaps are .060 -.068. I'm going to re-gap them for now. Can't find the label under the hood for the gap. I did a google search and found .044 gap. I assume the plug were replaced within the last 50,000 miles (most likely when the engine was replaced).

This will bring it. Non platinum tip plugs can wear that much in 50,000 miles. In the " good old days" cars got tuned up every 12,000 miles. Points, plugs and a condenser. I finally used up my old tube of point lube, I had it for 35 years. Lol

That gap sounds right, although cant remember off hand exactly.
I do a tune up every 25-30k on my cars. Well, my 03 and 04. I haven't even put a grand on my redline since ive owned it.

Hopefully the plugs will burn properly now and that new 02 sensor will work right. If not my only other suggestion would be a bad cat.

I was hoping to be able to let you all know if the issue was resolved but Amazon is taking their good ole time processing my order for the O2 sensor.

That is odd. I ordered some light covers for my RL Saturday, and got them today. Crazy.

Goalie actually lives under loading dock 9 at the New Orleans warehouse.

Not THAT crazy if ya think about it.....
