04 Ion 2 TCM reset
I have an 04 Saturn Ion 2 w/2.2 Ltr that I just replaced the tranny range sensor and battery on but am unclear on the pcm and tcm “relearn process”. How much driving at part throttle does it need to reset so the shifting stays in the correct range? I’ve tried the procedure as described in the manual but after completing that, the next time I drive it the shifting is outta whack again. It will surge and clunk into second or after it gets to second will surge then jump into third. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, please somebody, anybody?

Is the tranny range sensor new or used?
If new, what brand? SES light....was it on previously? If so, what were the codes. Pxxxx.... SES light is it on now? If so, what are the codes? |
My guess the car is a coupe. With a cvt

However the poster discusses shifting between gears.......

Why must you pelt me with the obvious? why can you not just wait for a large boulder to inadvertently fall on my head? Everyone was already snickering, now they're snickering more. Everyone but me.
sniff. My general hack response to your comment is: excellent point, duly noted. |
Do some Ions use the 4t40? I can look in my L series manual tonight if so. On Fords you have to clock the sensor correctly so the manual lever and the sensor are in time.

A 2004 sedan would have the Aisin AF23 trans and not a GM 4T45
unless it was a coupe, then it would have a CVT. OP did mention it shifting though |
Thanks Bones, so do they have a seperate tcm? And do you have or does Billy have a fsm?
