throttle body idle relearn process
Assuming you have the 3.6 V6:
The idle relearn process automatically runs any time you turn the ignition to ON after the engine has been OFF for 29 seconds or more.
So this should be constantly occurring when these conditions are met.
With the hood up, turn the key to ON, but don't crank the engine. You should be able to hear the throttle plate moving around calibrating (relearning) positions.
1) Why do you believe it needs an idle relearn?
2) Have you removed it for cleaning?
3) If so, what did you use to clean it?
4) Is the check engine light on ? If so, what are the stored codes? Please post all of the actual code (Pxxxx where P is a capital letter and xxxx is a 4 digit number), not the description of the code. Codes can be read for free at Autozone or similar. Don't buy whatever they are pushing.

Note: THere are further diagnostics performed in that thread based on the stored codes reported. I recommend not throwing parts at it until we determine what is actually amiss here.

To answer 1 and 2 the mechanic I took my car to was trying to figure out why the MAP sensor was tripping and has fixed that problem. In the process he said he took out the throttle body and cleaned it. When I kept bringing it back to him for high idle speed (P0507) he said he was done with me and that there is nothing wrong anymore. So I'm trying to figure it out myself.
Well it seems like he's not done with you, as it is likely he damaged the electronics on your throttle body. Not definitively, but possibly.
The key question is did you drive away with a PO507.? And can you document that?
If he left you a p0507, he probably knows it was there after he test drove it, which means he probably knows he owes you a throttle body.
.
I'm sure none of this was on purpose. Not trying to make the guy out to be an ***. However, how long did you get before the check engine light went on after you picked up the car the first time? A mile. 300 ft? What I'm trying to get at is whether it is reasonable that he would have known you would get a PO507 as soon as you left?
One could hope it is something as simple as a throttle body seal. Are you sure you are not getting any additional codes with the p0507? This is critical to diagnosis.
To me, If you are not rude or difficult to work with and let him do his thing, he fixed your map sensor issue, that's great. If he did not leave other parts of your vehicle in the same condition and functionality he received them with, that is a problem.
What's the PO507 present before you took the vehicle to the mechanic?
