Default Gear shift light indicator Aura XE 07

Hello all: I just purchased a used Aura 07 and would like to know if the center console gear indicator should light up? The car was built in Feb of 2007. Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered already.

HUH --??

The gear shift indicator ?? Should it light up ??

The answer is "YES". The light is hooked up with the dimmer rehostat so the intensity of the light will vary as does the gauge lights ....

Is there a fuse or relay for this? Or some other reason? Mine do not light up.

The bulb is most likely burnt out. If all of the dash lights work and dim with the switch, then what else could it be?

Thanks for the reply. After posting, I did find some additional information about where the bulb is located and how to replace it.

If you do decide to replace it, please post back and let us know if that was the cure.

I did replace it. The task was pretty simple - remove the trim panel from around the shifter and find the connector attached to the driver side of the shift console.

All of the manuals (and parts stores) that I checked told me that I would need Bulb 194. For some reason, the 194 wouldn't fit into the connector. I wound up using a bulb 74. I still plan to determine why I was unable to use the 194, which EVERY source that I looked at said I should use.

Good for you getting it fixed. As for the bulb, I can't tell you. Sometimes things are changed on cars in mid year production and we have to find out for ourselves what's what. What's the build date on your car?
