Air conditioner pump gone; bypass to keep car running?

I have a 2009 Aura. Air conditioner died, $1,100 to replace. Can I bypass the pump to keep it running without air? Perhaps, replace pulley with an idling pulley?

You might possibly buy a shorter belt and by pass the a/c pulley. Is it a four cylinder or six cylinder engine?

My LW300 had a seized air conditioning compressor. The previous owner used a shorter belt and just skipped the compressor. I drove the car for 30,000 miles that way.
If the engine was ever used in an application without air conditioning there is a factory idler available. Dorman products also makes some specialty bypass pulleys with brackets that bolt in place of the compressor.

It is a 4 cylinder.

The ecotec 4 cylinder was available in a Chevy Cavalier without a/c. The Napa catalogue lists a 5 rib belt for with and without a/c.
25-050345 Napa should fit your car with the compressor removed. I don't know if it will fit with the compressor still on the car.

I would think it much simpler to just pull the AC relay so that the clutch can never engage the compressor.

Even if the compressor is locked up internally, the clutch pulley spins freely until engagement is requested.

As long as the A/C clutch pulley and the shaft it mounts to are not bent, I believe this would do the trick.

If the shaft is bent, you could always buy a junkyard compressor from a wrecked Aura after making sure the AC clutch pulley and shaft are not wrecked.

Belt stays the same.

Please elaborate on "air conditioning broken".

The bearing had seized on my LW so the the pulley would not turn. The shorter belt was the easist solution for my car, the compressor was still on the engine.

More crickets. That is the hard part about taking time for newbies! Not even thanks for the help.......
