“Sorry about the long delay. Had some medical issues. Replaced the rear antenna. Still no go. I will now look for the remote door lock receiver which is supposed to be located under the rear speaker deck. Supposed to be an observation hole in the trunk area.”

I'm a full time tech. Certified across multiple brands. And starting my own repair business providing mobile services nights and weekends while my buddy and I get our shop in order.

That's good. I had an after hours shop that was open until 8pm. It did well.

Interesting. I've considered that once we got the shop full time and could quit our day jobs. Most are 8-5/6.
With my mobile work it's usually after 6pm on weekdays. And Saturday all day. I take sunday's as a family/relax day.
I currently have a 4 bay shop with my buddy. Then mobile gig is out of my 06 grand caravan until we have time to get our express 2500 running again and converted to a full on service van. We've been buying up shop equipment as we find deals.
Any tricks or tips for someone starting out if you don't mind sharing?

You do mobile. Are you a CMAT with L1 certs or equivalent. Do you do it all? Euro, Asia, US? Gas and diesel?

no national certs as of now. Factory specific certs, yes. Across a few brands. And yes, euro, Asian, domestic, gas, and some diesel. Haven't had to many diesel customers.
Texas doesnt actually require certifications to be in the field. But it does look better having them.

If you are staying busy you can take your time getting certs and such. I would recommend narrowing down what you like doing and possibly head towards a long term goal of having a specialty shop. I had a degree in electronics when I got involved with electrical in automotive. I started out as a general repair facility but a reputation for fixing the hard ones and started getting dealers and other shops in the area sending us their vehicles with electrical gremlins. After 10 years we changed the name to Automotive Electrical Specialty. At that time we were making about 20% more as a specialty shop than general repair. We still retained much of our customer base even with the higher rates. They trusted us. Trust is very important.

This thread didn't start off all that well. I'm glad that I read through to the end - it was nice to see you (you know who you are) put aside your egos, your butt-hurt pride, and your victim mentality and conduct a civil conversation.
