Default + ° key

My Aura's key has a plus sign in a circle. There is no noticeable chip like my sister's old Buick.
Is this a smart key or whatever? Since my Aura only has one key I want a spare.
Is this going to hurt financially?

Any key with a + on it near the head is indeed a chipped transponder key.

I believe compatible blanks can be purchased off amazon for less than $20.
I would find a locksmith specializing in cutting automotive keys.

Depending on the programming equipment he has, he may or may not be able to program it--OR it may be a "learn" key where you use the working key to train the new one, " a learning process.

If that is unsuccessful, you can take your cut key to the dealer and get it synched up

Got a key made today. It's a "learn key" and I could have done it myself. The owner's manual covers this. Found those keys on Amazon for less than $15 and could have had Ace Hardware cut it, but went to a locksmith and $65 later I have a programmed key.
Throwing money at things is how I solve problems sometimes. I'll never learn.
