Finding parts
I'm having a hard time finding my passenger side CV axle which is 41.7 in in length and all I'm finding is 37.4 anybody have any suggestions or recommendations where I could find the correct fitment part TIA.?
|
Looks like all Astra passenger side axles are 37.4” long completely compressed. Either transmission. This is measured out of the car and compressed total end to end.

Side by side

Have you tried to compress your axle? The inner boot looks extended some. I am just trying to help.

Yes I did I got the compresseed length of the oem from gm and it doesn't match the compressed length of the new part

If the ends on the replacement axle are correct, you can assemble the axle you need. Replacement boot clamps are available. Maybe you have a one off car that takes a non standard axle.

I didn't think about that man i haven't done that yet usually you know i get a replacement in n out so you mean replace the inner and outer pieces and the joints in to my old cv rod ? I did find one but it's in Germany and would be like 250 if it would be ready to get but I'm not sure do to the tariffs

If the splines on the shafts match, it is much easier to build the shaft you need. Maybe it is just the outer end that is worn out. Back in the 70s we used to repack VW cv joints and install new boots. We only changed the joints themselves if the balls were blue.
Yes, I am that old. |
